Here's The Story

Dear friends, picture this : Im on the upper deck of the ship and a boat cruises by, with about 5 men staring at me probably wondering "What on EARTH is that girl doing?", then a crew that lives on the ship with me comes upstairs and sees that I have a camera set on self timer and Im wearing "high socks" which is unheard of to ship crew apparently, and I have to explain why I am always on the top of the ship taking pictures. "I have a blog..its kind of...its kind of like a fashion blog..." "Im sorry..a what?! A fashion blog!?" "Yeah..its actually a pretty amazing community.." "Kate...I will never seize to understand you"..this is a typical day to day thing for me. People just dont get it, either way, it was hilarious!

So, these socks are another pair from We Love Colors. Gosh - this is my first time wearing "Thigh Highs" Ive seen them in so many magazines, but I just didnt know if I could ever do it. I actually really love them! But I get a lot of funny looks. Does this happen for any of you?

As for ship life this week - we are in a new city and the sail from Brisbane to here was a bit of a rocky one. I say that because I have the weakest stomach on board probably, and it was 36 hours long! I stayed in bed the entire time. I seriously felt like the most useless person ever. But - I do want to share with you one thing! I read this book called "Heres The Story" and it is by the woman who played Marcia Brady on the Brady Bunch. Alright, so I dont usually fall so in love with books that I cant put them down - but I seriously could not put this book down. It might of been for the fact that I was sold on never getting out of my bed, but this book is seriously amazing! She just shares about her life before the Brady Bunch, her life during the Brady bunch and then after - so incredible! She is such a woman of strength. At the end it brought me to tears, so I highly suggest you check it out! So good!

We are in this city of Gladstone for a few more weeks, then off to the next port. So excited to see Nathan really soon though - oh, Nathan, I miss you! What are all of you up to, though? Tell me something exciting! Till next time...x

  2. Hehehe :) I totally understand where you are coming from. What us fashion bloggers do for our blogs! You're right though- it IS an amazing community!! Do your friends/family know about your blog? I have told two people. My boyfriend, who loves it and supports me, and my best friend....who hates it and doesnt understand. I'm buying an SLR camera too (not primarily for my blog) and she said, "what's the point? it's not like you're going to be a photographer" all snootylike. So yeah.

I love your socks and the detail on your dress is adorable!

  3. Thanks so much Rosie! you're a peach.

And Mag, all of my freinds actually know about my blog, I am not very secretive about it. I like that they read it. The only thing that I dont like, is that sometimes I feel like I cant be as free as I would like to be sometimes with my feelings and such, because I dont know who is my reading my blog. My boyfriend is so supportive though..and my parents digg it, Its funny - I guess some people dont understand...but its just like other hobbies that people have - like music, art, cooking - except we like fashion blogging! I find it so incredibly inspiring. I hope your best freind will come around..and see how amazing your blog is! :) Have a great rest of your week sweet-pea. x

  4. haha, i had wondered what the other people on the ship thought about you taking photos! it is worth it though!

that dress is wonderful. i have over the knee socks pretty similar to that from american apparel but they are ribbed, i love them but i am ashamed to say i havn't worn them yet! at the moment i can't find anything that i think looks 'right' with them, and they make my thighs look weird, but this post has inspired me :)

i'm still in awe of how stylish you are, ON A BOAT.

  5. That dress is gorgeous. I love Ally. Some people judge because it's so cheap but I think its a great shop to find hidden treasures. Plus price shouldn't matter right? It's all about how you style and work it.

I also totally look up to you and your blog. I could never just take photos of myself like that. For many reasons. I wish I was more confident in that respect. That's why I feel silly sometimes even running a blog, like there is no point to it? But I'm hoping that the more I stick to it maybe my confidence will grow eventually and I can show outfit shots aswell as just my life. We'll see how it goes.

Wow now I'm just rambling. But anyway, great blog and great style I really admire your work!

  6. this is so cute, I love the colors of the dress with the bolder color of those socks!
it's always embarrassing getting "caught" doing self-portraits ;] I feel almost like I'm doing something wrong, but I just know most people in your daily life do not understand our blogging passions.

I hope you feel better after your long crossing! Take care :]

  9. Oh you are so adorable! I love those socks with that dress. That's such an awkward situation I assume with all them on that ship! My mom doesn't even really understand the idea behind it so I can imagine what they say!

  11. I adore this look! And your kind comments lately on my blog -- you really are just the sweetest person ever! They always make me smile and sometimes I read them to my husband. I know you'll be soooo happy to see your dreamboat, and this ship tour sounds like the trip of a lifetime. I'm so happy you're out doing something great, even if you get a little seasick from time to time. You'll always be able to laugh about it later, right? And you'll have amazing stories.

The thigh highs can be tricky but you look right at home in them. I actually think I'm going to wear some tomorrow!
