Dear friends, Its been almost a week since I have lived on this ship. Its been such a crazy adventure so far! This weekend I will post a blog post with pictures of the ship, explaining more of what I do and more of where I live. For now, these pictures were taken at the top of the ship, where we hang the laundry and rescue boats, ect. You know how much I love those laundry lines...(I miss my brick wall at home!) Its beautiful standing up there at night to see the sunset. What a blessing this ship is!
So basically, for those of you who dont know, I am on a ship tour at the moment. I just got here at the start of this week, and I will be going for a couple months. The ship tour started in February.
The Scoop :
I am travelling on a medical ship that is going up the coast of Australia raising awareness and telling people from the different cities that we go to about our mission. We are going into Papua New Guneia in August to bring free medical care to the people there. We will be providing eye surgeries, dental surgeries, primary health care, and resources. We are donating spectacles from the different ports and cities that we go into, along with tooth brushes and toothpaste.
What do I do? :
Everyday at the lovely hour of 9 AM I wake up in my single bunk on the ship, and get ready for the day of giving tours. I give about 8 tours a day, showing people the different parts of the ship, showing them pictures and videos, and really giving them an eye-opener for the nation of PNG, and the great need there. This has been such a fulfilling job, and its only been about 5 days. I love seeing peoples faces light up as they hear about the possibility to help with such little things as toothbrushes and toothpaste - things that we take for granted daily in the western world, can truly change someones life. Its been incredible!
Well, this sailor girl has had a long first week and is ready for a good sleep :) I hope you all have an amazing Friday tomorrow and a magical weekend. x
