Pretty Things.

_MG_8320.JPG_effected

words are such a funny thing.

I believe that they are meant to be beautiful. clear cut and full of energy and life. Loving and endearing. Firm and responsive, honest and true. Authorative when neccesary, but kind always. Im learning a lot today about how my words can affect someone. I was challenged this morning with wanting to react in a way that is unloving, and not kind, and was quickly reminded of how words can truly uplift, or tear someone down. When I say I love you and am happy for you, I dont just want to be quoting a hallmark card, I want to mean it. When I say I am sorry and that I regret what I did, I want to mean it. I want my yes to be yes and my no to be no. I want my words to bring life, not death. We can get caught up in such negative things, but I challenge you to think of things that are kind, lovely, and true - and stand firm on those <3

  3. i love your necklace and romper, you always look so darn cute! and i definitely agree with you about how powerful words can be, i never believe sticks and stones may break my bones but words can never hurt me.. wounds from words can last much longer than physical ones.

  4. such a cute outfit, it's a beautiful day for florals here too :]

I love what you wrote about words, it's so true, they are so powerful. Yet I find it so hard to think of the kind words, the right actions. I need a cheat sheet, can you make me one? ;]

  7. Gorgeous romper! I only realised how addicted to florals I was when I got home from hols & three of my new pieces featured flowers! I love that Sportsgirl dress, I wish I had gotten a size smaller now because after 10 wears or so, the 10 is a bit loose. Nothing a sewing machine won't fix :)

  9. Oh words. Sometimes they can't do enough, you know? Sometimes you can't put all you want into the words you choose, and I hate that.
But then, sometimes the tiniest word can make all of the difference!
    Words are pretty neat, yeah?

I love words so much - which is why I couldn't be happier with my major. I just get to play with words all the time. :D

Adorable outfit; I especially love the necklace, of course!

  14. Such a beautiful necklace. I agree with you -- our words often have a much deeper impact that we can realize. I know we all remember mean things people have said to us, unfortunately a lot more often than we remember the good things. And I think finding new ways to say things -- so people know we really mean them -- is always a wonderful exercise. Great post, Kate!

  16. This is such a beautiful post. It reminded me to think carefully about everything I say. It's so easy to speak without thinking and say something that we wouldn't have said if we knew how much it was going to hurt someone. Just the other day I got myself into that kind of situation and regretted it so much. This little reminder to speak kind, uplifting words is exactly what I needed :) You're amazing!

I adore your romper...I've been looking for one like that lately but have yet to find one! Such a cute cute cute outfit.
