I would consider myself overly paranoid. I am scared of anything and everything. When I was younger (okay, I still do this) I remember being in my room at night and if I heard any noise coming from outside, I would turn off all my lights and look out the window. My theory is, I can see the bad guy but he cant see me...and I will have time to run and hide. Yeah I know, I am nuts. Today Nathan and I were going for a drive and he saw this house on the side of highway and had the genius or not so genius idea to get out and take photos IN the house. Um...let me think about this for a second. No thanks. Abandoned house in the middle of nowhere and you want me to go inside? Not a freaking chance. I got up enough courage to get out of the car and take these pictures just outside of the house, but it was not easy my friends. You think when you look at these photos "Aw, she looks so nice and composed" but in reality after every photo I was looking behind me below me ahead of me to my sides and everywhere else to make sure we weren't about to be the next two missing adults from Canada that's story gets turned into a horror movie in 2012.

I wanted to say THANK YOU so much for all your sweet and lovely comments on my video blog on Friday. I was seriously beaming from ear to ear all weekend from all the nice words you all said to me - thank you thank you thank you! Too sweet. Maybe I will make more in the future? I mean, I am a professional vlogaahhhh!!

Have a super sweet Monday friends. xoxo

  1. Love your sweater and the shoes!! That house looks seriously scary- I half excepted to see a figure standing in the black doorway! I used to be like that when I was younger too (I'd sleep totally under the covers, not sure how I breathed..) xx

  2. Hehe, I am kinda the same with the paranoid attitude but my curiosity always takes over and I can't help myself but go check things out. Often I take my dog since hes a pit bull (maybe wishful thinking that he would protect me as he is afraid of EVERYTHING). Once I was house sitting and when I went to feed the cat one day the house had been broken into and ransacked. A sane person would have left immediately upon seeing the broken door and glass and called police. I sent the dog in for a quick run around then went to investigate myself. Anywhoo... I love the colour of this outfit. Seriously I am a sucker for matching surroundings and I LOVE me some old architecture!

  4. Great pictures and I loveee your sweater and shoes!

OMG I am the complete opposite! My gran always tells me stories of when I was a child and visited her, I'd insist on having all of the curtains shut because it scared me having them open! I'm still the same now, I have to get Shane to shut the curtains at night when its dark because I think theres someone standing there waiting for me or something hehe! I'm such a wimp hahaha! Have a good week! :)

  5. hahaha you're so silly. that house does look creepy! and kinda cool. i gotta say, the first picture of the house is a good shot. I wouldn't mind exploring it...I think...with someone else that is. And that sweater is just amazing!

  6. You. are. stunning. I love how the backdrop of the abandoned house kind of matches the mood of your outfit. Next time you should venture into the house! Just make sure Nathan goes in first and leaves last. :P

  7. These pictures are amazing! Ha well I still have to keep some sort of light on, because my mind says that the bad guys will know there's someone in there and won't enter my room ha! x

  9. Oh gosh, I'm seriously the biggest scaredy cat! If I even read the plot of a scary movie, I'll have nightmares! I also have this intense fear or strangers! Haha so I feel like you are completely justified in being aware of your surroundings! I would miss you dearly if some goblin got you! So thanks for being careful so you can continue to look gorgeous everyday :)

  10. These are seriously great photos. I am overly paranoid too. If someone walks in the front door (like in the middle of broad day light and it's a roommate) I will jump out of my skin. I'm glad you overcame your paranoia for the photogs!

And I really did love your first vlog. I've been thinking of making one myself, but am not sure what to talk about? Yours was def. motivating though!

  12. I love your spooky spot. I love thinking of you as a scared little kid running to turn the lights off. I always used to do the exact same thing. Your clothes and pictures are amazing ( as usual ) I can't wait to watch your vlog.

  13. Haha ooh Kate you are too funny!! I don't get too scared at old abandoned houses - more depressed usually seeing a house go unloved. I DO get scared poop less at scary movies though. I tried to watch this Canadian horror flick called pontypool over the weekend and nearly didn't make it to the end!

Anyway, glad you braved it through these shots because the outfit matches the scenery perfectly I love it! I also adore the dress worn as skirt - it's a great length!!

  15. So brave! At least it is in the daytime!!! That's one of my only things if I am to watch a horror movie- It has to be in the daytime, I have to have a blanket, I have to have someone (preferably my boyfriend, but unfortunately he's not the best protector because he gets super scared easily too).

I love the flowiness in this outfit today. You look like a lovely ghost. But opposite since the outfit is super dark and you're not translucent. So maybe not a ghost at all..I just wanted to compare you with something spooky haha. =)

  17. Sounds like me. I would get out but not peak inside. Way too scary and dangerous! I want more heeled boots! So cute!

  18. I love abandoned houses. I mean I wouldn't want to chill out at a creepy abandoned house in the middle of nowhere, but most of the time, they're so beautiful and oddly romantic. Nonetheless, you look lovely and I loved that this shoot was unplanned for, but your outfit goes perfectly with the location!

  19. What an amazing place and your outfit seems so in tune with the colours too :D

I'd love to explore places like this but here abandoned buildings are usually boarded up and riddled with big old "trespassers will be prossecuted" signs so it 's not the spooky but blinding fear of legal action that keeps me out *sigh*

  20. This reminds me of an abandoned house near my boyfriend's parent's house. They live in the country and it's very secluded and creepy. I like the vibe here.

  21. I am a fraidy cat. I get scared so easily. I can't watch scary movies, or go in haunted houses. My boyfriend has been watching some zombie tv show lately, and I can't even look at the screen. I would have been looking behind my back every second too. That house looks super creepy.

  23. when i am in a situation that could even be scary in the slightest, somehow i MAKE it scarier for myself! a few weeks ago i was driving down the backroads with my friend, and i just started imagine scary things (it was already dark and raining, and we were alone...) we freaked ourselves out!

i love this length skirt on you! you look so beautiful and classic.

  24. I don't blame you - I totally wouldn't have gone in there either, haha. However, the house in the background is a very nice touch!

  25. what?! you're not crazy! I am the most paranoid person ever, so I am happy to know that there's someone out there as paranoid as I am. I always have these plans about where I'm hiding, who I'm calling and all the stuff I'll do in order for the bad guys to eventually lose at the end :p

    that sweater! I need it!

    ReplyDelete
  26. creeped out for you just looking at these. i'm always the girl who's all for going to scary abandoned places and then once we get there i change my mind and sing happy songs in hopes it will keep the ghosts away.

  27. Ok I wouldn''t of been able to handle that I think. Way too scary. I'm glad you braved the yard of the ghost house though, because this was a perfect place for your photos! The subdued colors of your outfit look awesome against the background of that creepy, creepy place. Your sweater is awesome. xoxo

PS Please pretty please do another vlog!!1 please!!!

  28. You shouldn't turn out your lights because it gives away your position! :P (My bf is South African and grew up trained to fight insurgents and terrorists, so he knows this stuff)

    ReplyDelete
  29. i am the exact same way. i always think someone is following me and i will not take a shower if there is no one home bc i am always scared someone will come into my house while i am in there! hahaha..i am crazy!! :P

& dont get me started on how beautiful you look..!!!

This outfit is so perfect, and I love how it matches the location! You look beautiful.. even when creeped out ;)

  33. OMG I am paranoid too! It's a terrible curse to be such a fraidy cat! I get scared of everything and in gradeschool and highschool when I walked home from school (god this is so morbid) but I would plan how exactly I would make it home if I got stabbed or something. Um I lived in the middle of nowhere and had to walk a block! Pathetic, right? Anyway, I totally would have been afraid too so don't feel bad!

  41. Just found your blog. And I think you are very very cute :) and I am following you. I am afraid of ghosts and aliens and supernatural things... Not because I necessarily believe, but because I figure it's better to be safe than sorry. Hehe.

  45. I use to be the same way, when I was younger, I would turn off the light and hide. I find Abandoned houses kinda interesting, yes they are spooky but I like to imagine how that house looked liked before and the story behind it. I like the outfit you wore, its matches the scenery quite well.

  46. I was exactly like that as a kid! Even now, sounds in the night still scare me, but that may have something to do with all the huge earthquakes shaking up my city right now! Every truck that drives past gives me a heart attack!

But anyway. I love this outfit, it matches the mood of the pictures and the scenery beautifully. And your hair! Gorgeous.
