wisteria lane
My neighborhood kind of reminds me of a scene from Desperate Housewives. Everyone seems to have their quirky secrets that they dont want the rest of the street to know about. My family can be known to leave at strange hours of the day and night with hoodies on and maybe even sunglasses (even in the dead of winter) just so we can drive off without having to hear about Henrys swim meet or Donnas baking club. Next to my brother I am the youngest person to live on this road, therefore im mega trouble. I often get weird looks when I leave the house with grocery bags full of clothes in one hand , and a tripod in the other hand. Or when I blast Lady Gaga's obnoxious yet amazing tunes in the car and wake everyone up...and especiallllly when I come home (3 times a week) with Mcdonalds, or Wendys (its okay, im getting over this phase) But today....I decided to put the cherry on top of the cake, and take my blog photos on my street. Yes, I got stares, long stares, 4 minute stares....but this didnt hold me back. This aint no Mr Rogers neighborhood, but I try to add a bit of Morrison fun to remind them not to take life so seriously. I only had enough guts to get these five photos before I became overwhelmed with fear that someone was going to come and ask me what in the world I am doing (its a free country!) What is your neighborhood like? Hope you are all having a wonderful week thus far. Hugs from my neck of the woods to yours. xo

ReplyDeleteHahaha. This made me laugh so much. You're so funny! Wisteria Lane! Regardless, you look incredible. They should all be taking notes.
ReplyDeletereally like your shoes!! hihi..
ReplyDeletei dreaming to have one like that! hihi^^
Nice to meet you! Im from indonesia.^^
I'm loving your dress! My neighborhood seems a little more welcoming - though there's a ton of new families that keep to themselves and refuse to let their children outside. I receive many strange looks from neighbors, but I'm sure they think it's just typical weird teenager stuff.

work it girl! :) and I so have an addiction to Mickey D's too! I haven't had it in over two weeks and whenever I drive by one it absolutely makes me do bananas!!
ReplyDeletethat is a dress!? not a top and a skirt?! amazing find! and did you make your necklace?
what a treat to live near mountains (hills?)!! where I live I only have gold course mounds as the highest point :(
Nothing is worse than creepy people just staring. I usually shoot them a look that means "get a life". hehe.. My neighborhood is pretty cool. There's lots of artists so people just assume you're working on a project or something.
ReplyDeleteHaha...I love the story attached with these photos! My neighbourhood is pretty different from yours...there are plenty of little kids, people aren't too nosy, and McDonalds is a common sight. However, if I'd go outside and take photos of myself I think weird looks would be inevitable, haha. Oh well...not many people understand "blogging"...
ReplyDeletei love your shoes! and the story of your neighbors. ha!
ReplyDeleteyour neighbor hood is cute! i cant pictures in mine due to, too many little kids running around and asking me "what the heck are you doing lady? are you crazy?" love the shoes!
ReplyDeletewolves and sparklers

mhmm i'm soo jealous of what your wearing man i just love that dress soo cute it fit you so well =]
ReplyDeleteMy neighborhood is just as conservative and filled with old people, but I take my photos in the park anyway. Though the staring does get to me after a while hehe. I adore that second to last photo! You look so happy and beautiful! This outfit looks super comfy! And you have the best shoes!
ReplyDeleteI love your shoes, great shots!!
ReplyDeleteyou know, when i first saw this i thought of the great gatsby and how the look is sort of 1920's in a way. I guess, that also kind of parallels the pristine neighborhood you mention that you live in. the photos look great, though! screw the neighbors.

i wander, i wonder
I'm so proud of you for taking these! You go girl!
ReplyDeletePS You look darling! I just love your top and skirt!
I love how neighbors don't realize they are the weird ones :) I absolutely adore the picture of you laughing it's so cute!
ReplyDeleteYou're very brave for doing it in your own street Kate, I always get scared my housemates (there's an evil pair in my house) will spy me from their windows when they take photos in the street. On campus is always embarassing too! You look beautiful though, a gorgeous dress and the nude tights work really well. x
ReplyDeleteHaha it does sound very Desperate Housewives or Stepford Wives. All you can do in those situation is wave and smile, that'll shock them for sure :D Love your vintage dress, it's lovelyyy xx
ReplyDeletehaha your post made me laugh out loud!! hope your having a fabulous week,
ReplyDeletexx lovely outfit!

Your neighbourhood sounds so funny! Mine is a bit crazy too, we have this crazy old woman who just stares out of her window all day waiting for someone to cause some kind of 'trouble' then goes out and shouts at everyone haha! Actually the majority of people in my street are old people - although theyre not crazy haha! :)
ReplyDeleteI actually thought that was a top and skirt, what an amazing dress! The colours are lovely! Hope you have a good week! :)
People are so nosy! The houses in your neighborhood look really neat. At first I thought you weren't wearing tights but the nude looks really natural.
ReplyDeletehaha lucky for me I dont live near anyone else!! Which is awesome cuz no one can see me but less awesome because there are no roads and I can't go though the snow at this point!
ReplyDeleteby the way thats such a unique toe on those shoes!
Shy
you look freaking amazing AGAIN. that dress is SO pretty. this post totally cracked me up too. :) I live on a pretty busy road so its kinda hard to take photos in the middle of it, It's kinda country where i live though, so i don't think anyone evens sees me when i take my photos outside.
ReplyDeleteI love Desperate Housewives! How funny that your neighborhood is like Wisteria Lane!
ReplyDeleteI would take far more photo's if I weren't so scared of someone seeing me. I wouldn't know what to say if they asked me what I was doing.
ReplyDeleteI live in a cul de sac so curtains are twitching. One time we threw a dinner party two doors down called out the poice because they found the noise unbearable. There were five of us, we were laughing a bit, it was Saturday at nine thirty PM. Jesus H. in suburbia *roll eys*
ReplyDeleteYou look lovely - those shoes are the bomb!
love those shoes.
ReplyDeleteI love that you took photos in the middle of the street! Why not, they look wonderful too. Great outfit, the skirt is such a pretty color and style.
ReplyDeleteWonderful photos, I love how you photograph.
My town is very much the same! All the spots that I take photos in are very near to my house so I'm pretty sure my neighbours think I'm some nutso poser girl that likes taking pictures of herself, hehe! Ah well.
ReplyDeleteThis outfit is adorable, I love your shoes and you look so beautiful in that laughing photo!!
I think I'll stare at this last photo for a few hours okay? because it's amazing.
ReplyDeleteAwesome shoes! And that's funny, people in your neighborhood seem too uptight, haha
