grandpa sweater
My Grandad always wore the most amazing sweaters. I remember always thinking when we would go visit him "Does he ever wear the same one?!" it seemed like each day there was a new color, new texture, new shape. He loved his sweaters..and it must run in the family, because I have grown quite a fondness for sweaters as well. I don't mind looking like my upper body has gained 50 pounds when a cozy sweater is involved. The term 'frumpy' and 'bulky' get tossed out the window - and even though over sized sweaters do make me look those words, I could care less. Wouldn't you agree? Don't you have those items in your closet that even though you know they might not be the most flattering..you will never give them up because comfort outweighs style with that particular piece of clothing? I saw this sweater when I was at Super Store with my Dad, and though I have never bought anything from 'Joe Fresh' I thought I would give it a try. It was mega long on me, so I cut off the bottom and sewed it up and made it into a crop sweater. Ta da! Perfection. Love love love it.
I had a lovely lunch today with my friend (hi Sarah!) and was so glad to finally catch up with her. You know those moments when you haven't seen someone in years but when you see them again you almost feel like time stood still and you pick up right where you left off? We had so much fun reminiscing about our teenage rebellion. Im thankful for good friends in my life! Hope you are having a wonderful Thursday. Hugs. xo

I love that sweater and those shoes! I'm a total sweater girl - don't even mind the "lumpy" look, like you. Also, I know exactly what you're talking about - whenever I see my best friend from high school, I remember exactly why we were BFFs and it's so easy to just revert back to the good times. :]
ReplyDeleteYou look great, as always!!

Another wonderful outfit, I always horde oversized jumpers that I get from vintage shops and wear them when I need a cosy day. The collection got a bit too large and I'm having to sell some at the moment though! I love this tan colour with your dark hair, looks great with the skirt too. Good job on the shortening, I'm craving for a crop jumper but it seems so late in the season to invest. Maybe next winter?
ReplyDeleteWell i dont think you look bulky with this sweater at all! You look lovely!
ReplyDeleteLove visiting your blog. I always feel very inspired by you =)

ReplyDeleteSo cute, I love that you turned it into a crop sweater! I totally feel the same way about things that are super comfy but not super flattering! You look really good in this sweater though so I wouldn't worry :)

I think I've already told you this, but I want to go steady with your shoes. the sweater is amazing <3 I personally find styling truly warm things is hard but you make it look so easy!

you look so cute! i really like the text you wrote about your grandpa :)
ReplyDeleteI love the sweater! I'm more of a cardigan person, only because I feel really claustrophobic in sweaters haha (I'm weird) but I really love this whole look! Those shoes are so cute though, I need them to add to my collection hehe!
ReplyDeleteI think this is a really pretty outfit. I love comfy sweaters like that. I also think it's cool that you use your stylish grandpa as style inspiration. If I did that I'd be walking around in hanes t-shirts and pj pants! lol!
ReplyDeleteLove this outfit. :)
ReplyDeletei have so many over-sized jumpers in my wardrobe - some actually passed down from my Grandad. :)
The color on the mountain behind you is perfection. Your pictures are always so incredible! I love this cozy sweater on you- cute as a button. My grandfather is definite style inspiration too. :) I guess it's from years of working in Manhattan, but he's often dressed like he belongs in some golden age film, and he wears chuck taylors sometimes too, which is the cutest!
ReplyDeleteI agree! and the best part is that this sweater not only looks so comfy, but is also very chic! love that you cropped it too ^,^
ReplyDeleteCan you stop putting us all to shame with your beautiful photos haha, honestly these are so stunning :) I love your DIY work on your jumper. It's lovely and goes perfectly with your skirt. Hope you have a lovely weekend xxx
ReplyDeleteYou look fantastic! And I agree, sweaters are the best. I'd rather be bulky and cozy than anything else! <3
ReplyDeleteLove the sweater Kate...it looks so cozy! That's the downside of spring, it gets too hot here to wear sweaters at all! I'll have to live through you girls in Canada now I suppose!
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you had fun meeting with your friend...I love catching up after it's been awhile!
This outfit doesn't look frumpy on you! It looks super cozy! I love that you chopped it off and made it into a cropped sweater! I'm with Amanda--it's not cold enough here to wear such thick sweaters, but I wish it was!
ReplyDeleteFabulous outfit! And, great location, so beautiful! xxxx
ReplyDeleteCutest outfit ever. Such a cozy sweater ah!
ReplyDeletei also have a grandpa sweater and it's my favourite!
ReplyDeletei love your blog girl.
you are amazing and beautiful in once.
