Finally, an outfit post! I know, im terrible, but I have been a busy bee (and I know you forgive me!) but we are going to kick start these outfit posts in 2011 with one of my new favorites. I found this treasure of a dress at a local thrift store hidden behind a womens neon green two peice suit - marked with the lovely price of $4. I wore it for Christmas day and felt so old school.I cant believe the luck I have been having with thrifting lately...I think my town is just an absolute diamond mine when it comes to thrift stores because noone else shops at them! Yesterday Danielle and I went into the same thrift store and found a retro 50's bathing suit (cant wait to show you that one!), and the best collectible ever to grace my presence - a 1955 mickey mouse record player. You know the giddy feeling you get when you see something in a thrift store from afar? And then you start walking quickly towards it and dying to see it up close and personal? Thats how I was with this record player. It was love at first sight, and to my luck, it was half off day at the thrift store, and then the lady gave me an extra $5.00 off on top of the 50%..they must of really been wanting to get rid of this thing! Owell...one mans garbage, is another mans treasure.
What has been your best thrift store find? Have a lovely week!! x
The dress is absolutely lovely!
ReplyDeleteAlso, what sort of film camera are you using here?

That is a amazing thrift store find! I never ever ever (okay never say never I know..) find decent dresses when I go thrifting. I can find everything else I'm looking for but pretty dresses.
ReplyDeleteGosh, you are so cute, I'm following you now! My best thrift wasn't vintage but a pair of brand new leather boots for 40 bucks instead of 200! Your $4 dress might beat that though, it's darling!
ReplyDeleteThat dress is AMAZING. The back is my favorite- so pretty! I love it. Love love love. I'm jealous and you make me want to thrift BADLY:)
ReplyDeleteThat dress is beautiful, and what a steal!
ReplyDeleteThat record player is adorable, I love the little arm.

ReplyDeleteHappy new year!

not to sound like a total pervert, but i can't wait to see the bathing suit! i collect 1950's-1960's bathing suits (even if i can't fit in them, i'm that nutty). i'm currently looking for a girly 2 piece for the summer.
ReplyDeleteThese photos are so gorgeous! Great thrift store finds... I never have any luck here. It's a bummer.
ReplyDeleteI love it when the thrifting gods smile upon me. Although lately, I've been having terrible luck! Oh well, it must have all passed on to you because this dress and that record player are AMAZING! Such great finds Kate!

ReplyDeleteI had that exact feeling when I saw a vintage Remington typewriter across the room. I had been searching for a typewriter for so long.
ReplyDeleteYou look lovely! I can't believe you found that at a thrift store! I love the sleeves on it - so cute! Unfortunately the charity shops (thrift stores) near me are all filled with tracksuits and the like haha!
ReplyDeleteAhh that record player is soo cute! :)
I have been having some great luck in my local thrift as well. That is amazing about the bathing suit! And I know exactly how you feel when you see something from afar. That happens to me all the time!
ReplyDeleteI'm so jealous of your amazing finds! The dress is gorgeous and I've been after an old record player for aaaages - yours is so cute! Sally x
ReplyDeleteGreat dress and that record player is definitely a one-of-a-kind!!
ReplyDeleteaww that is cute about seeing something in a thrift store from afar. I love all these shots and think your shoes are lovely . .as is that record player.
ReplyDeleteGoreous find! I love the sheer sleeves. I think my favorite recent find was a knit wool cape with a weird checkered pattern on it, and my favorite all time find was a vintage Lanvin cropped jacket. Ah I wish I could wear both at the same time!
ReplyDeleteYou look adorable in this dress!
