magic of mohair
I never used to like mohair fabric. In fact, I despised it. I have a vivid picture in my mind of one of my teachers from Elementary school wearing a mohair sweater to class and I wanted to rip it off of her and throw it into a shredder, blender, or toilet. Okay, I am being a drama queen. I didn't hate it that much...but I didn't like it by any means. Then a epiphany happened (as they do) and I started to grow a fondness of mohair. The Angora Goat who produces the hair that is turned into the silky textile called 'mohair' and I became friends. Seeing it come alive in runway shows and street style photographs, I thought I would give it a chance. Yes its itchy, hot, animal-like and not always practical...but I had fun wearing it!
Did you have a good weekend? I drank a lot of coffee, ate too much sushi, and caught up with girlfriends. Oh, and ate half a box of ice cream by myself while watching Glee season one. It just doesn't get any classier than that my friends. xo

ReplyDeleteIt's so silly how our tastes change so much from when we're children--and I'm talking in food too. It's a beautiful sweater. It's not itchy at all?

ReplyDeleteYour weekends sounds like a dream! You look gorgeous miss Kate. I'm glad you made ammends with mohair to make this outfit possible! xo
ReplyDeleteI love the mohair on you! It looks good with florals :) Your weekend sounds lovely! I wish I were there eating the other half of the ice cream with you! <3
ReplyDeletecayuuute. i like the sweater layered over the dress and how you can see the tinniest little bit sticking out at the sleeves
ReplyDeleteI didn't even know that mohair was a real word. I only know it from the "Bennie and the Jets" song. And there are just a MILLION ways people sing that song so I just figured it was a made up weird...hahaha (Silly me for doubting the Elton John..)
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you had a great weekend! Food, Friends, and catching up with shows will always equal to a fantastic weekend.
Love the red flower dress and the mohair sweater does add some wonderful texture. and AGAIN I love the color of your lipstick!! =)

Aww the dress is lovely and the mohair jumper is great. I know what you mean, I think I used to find them well, too hairy really but it does grow on you! x
ReplyDeleteLove the peek of that adorable dress! Oh, and your weekend sounds exactly like mine, except switch Glee for "Hot In Cleveland" - I know, I wasn't expecting to get into it at all, but it was streamable on Netflix, sooooo...I went for it.
ReplyDeleteI think that it's looks great on you. I used to have an aversion to mohair as well. Mostly because it felt so itchy against my sensitive skin.

She's got electric boots, a mohair suit - you know I read it in a magaazaaiiine. oohhooohhh.
ReplyDeleteSeriously though who wears a suit made entirely of mohair? Your sweater, though, that is a different story. I love it paired with this dress! I can't wear any kind wool because it makes me want to itch my skin off - I'm jealous of your wool-wearing abilities! Lookin' good Kate!
love love love ya!

Haha I'm not even sure I've seen a mohair shirt. It looks fuzzy and soft yet itchy at the same time. Is that possible?! It looks really cute over that dress, though. Those boots are still my fave!
ReplyDeletesuper cute! is it itchy at all?? i love your skirt!

You look really sweet in this but I still retain my aversion to mohair its too warm for me. Your photos are always so pretty.
ReplyDeleteoooh so pretty! i love your shoes. i tried them on at forever 21, but they felt super uncomfortable on me for some reason! they go with everything you pair them with, though. fabulous!
ReplyDeletei also really love your necklace. it's so delicate and pretty!

Ooooh, I love mohair! And I love reading what you write...it always makes me smile. Haha, I love how rash you were as a child, wanting to throw your teachers sweater in the toilet haha.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week Kate!
What a beautiful necklace! I have some itchy sweaters that I put up with wearing too because it's easy to layer under them! Lovely colors too :)
ReplyDeleteUmmmm. isn't mohair warm?
ReplyDeleteI purchased a pair of mohair socks (made locally, yay!), and they kept my feet really, really warm! I adore the sweater.
Yum!

you look a bit like America Ferrarah (obviously not when she's playing Ugly Betty more like when she's herself or Carmen from the Sisterhood) very pretty.
ReplyDeleteThis is a darling outfit, you've put those pieces together beautifully.
