dreaming of knit
There was one thing that I was really excited about when coming back to Canada..im sure you can all guess - the clothing! Its been years since I have worn a big knit sweater, toque, scarf and gloves. I am loving being back in the cold weather and having a reason to dress up in everything knit and warm! The night that I got home I was suffering from some severe jet lag and decided it would be a good idea to completely rearrange my closet and bedroom! Needless to say, 3 hours later and 4 garbage bags full of old clothes, I was set and needing to get rid of alot of stuff - fast! Luckily my dad is a gem and took everything to the local thrift store with me - but now there is spaces missing and holes needed to be filled. You know what this means? Winter shopping! Im looking forward to hitting up some thrift stores (which I have decided are so much better than normal stores) and getting as many sweaters as I can. Out with the flip flops and swim suits, its time for tights (as if I need anymore tights!) and boots.
Last night Nathan, my Dad and I took it upon ourselves to get busy and put up the Christmas tree. It looks so gorgeous, and the smell is just fantastic! I always find it fun looking through old christmas ornaments and linking them back to certain stories or situations. Do you do the same? Last night I went into my basement to look for certain lights and saw some decorations that I remember putting up every year - I like to think that the ornaments come alive and say 'pick me!' when I open up the box they are in. Am I sounding crazy? Most likely..but hey, I like to get into the holiday spirit! Who can blame me? Hope you're well, love bugs! x

Love this outfit! Knits are my fav during this time of the year. They are so cozy and cute! I agree with, thrift stores are better than normal stores; you can find so many unique pieces there. I still like going to regular stores, but thrift stores are good as well =)
ReplyDeleteTake care

that lake view is absolutely gorgeous! As is your outfit! Your hair, your cardigan and your boots are THE BEST!
ReplyDeleteAnd I so wish I was on holidays like you right now! I'm so jealous! Mind you, the weather youre having over there probably isnt that different to australias; adelaide at the moment is the worst excuse for summer weather ever!
But I hope youre having a wonderful and safe time!
xxxx
Love the sweater - cozy chic!
ReplyDeleteAnd I feel the same about Christmas ornaments - the fun is the stories behind each one. We have yet to get our tree, hopefully today because I can't wait to have our house smell of pine!
I seriously admire you for going through all your stuff like that. Seriously. I'm such a pack-rat that I have a hard time doing that- but it really does need to be done... The plus side is the shopping now :D Actually, Urban Outfitters is having some amazing sales at the moment- so you can check that out and treat yourself to some nice things ;P
ReplyDeleteI really love your personal style! And I love the colors of your photos- they look sort of antiqued. I've added myself as a follower! :)

I just love the holiday spirit, putting up the Christmas tree is one of the best parts of the holidays!
ReplyDeleteThat cardigan is so cute! I love the colour! Also the scenery is amazing - Canada looks so beautiful! That's definately an excuse to go shopping again, hope you find some great pieces!
ReplyDeleteThat scenery is gorgeous! The picture of you taking it in is lovely :) Where I live is flat, flat, flat --- but the depth and the colors and the bits of snow and the mountaintops -- now I really want to come to Canada!
ReplyDeleteOh, and the other night at dinner, my 9 year old nephew looks at me and goes, "Did you know, the day after Christmas is BOXING DAY in Canada?!" It was so random and cute and he said he saw it 'on a calendar' -- what do you do for Boxing Day?
And yay for a real Christmas tree! I got one with my sister this year and it smells so good but she's a little lazy and forgets to water it so its not doing well. Can we see pictures of your tree? :) How is Nathan adjusting to the cooler weather? You look so happy and loving it -- I love this cardigan, what a great texture and color! I have a similar one in a brown color and I just want to constantly wrap myself in it!
Enjoy everything, beautiful! As always, its great to hear from you and thank you for your support over on my blog. I really get so excited when I see you've updated on my Bloglovin'! But enjoy the holidays and Nathan and family time too -- we'll be here waiting ;)
P.S. Next time sell your unwanted clothes on here! Get some cash monies for your fine threads, eh? hehe
ReplyDeleteBeautiful landscapes and I am loving the knit cardi on you :)
ReplyDeleteYay for Christmas at home!
yay to knitted cardigans! is there other reason winter exists?
ReplyDeletereally??
Beautiful photos and your dress is also very cute!
ReplyDeleteI do the same thing--link ornaments to memories. Which is probably why we can never get rid of any ornaments and our tree ends up being covered in the most random ornaments! I love it though...it's very personal and makes it OUR tree.
ReplyDeleteI love the sweater and the dress...I'm secretly excited you are back in our hemisphere. Now you can inspire me for this season instead of making me wish it was another one!
Oooh I really want a lovely, cream feminine dress like this. It looks so fantastic with the chunky knit cardigan :]]

My husband is Canadian and I love traveling to visit his family. Such striking landscape, especially for a Midwestern girl like me. I'd never experienced the beauty of mountains before I met him. Enjoy your time together in Canada!
