Hope.

Today has been a day of gratefulness and a day of hope for change. This morning I saw images and footage of the earthquake that happened in Chile a month ago. I felt like I was half broken. Its one of those moments where you just watch and wonder "well what can I do?" and feel a sense of helpless-ness and sadness. I saw a young girl and her sister and a brother speak to the tv reporter saying "help us find our father..he is in here somewhere!" Can you imagine the horror? I got that gut wrenching, cheek tingling, eye watering feeling when they came on - because somedays I take advantage of how truly blessed we really are. How privledged we are and fortunate, I hope we never forget! If you think of Chile, pray for them - and the families. Have a great day. x

  1. Right on, sister! We need not forget how lucky we are to be given the lives and possessions we have! Thanks for the reminder. On a side note, you look really cute. I like your floral tank!

  2. You're very right -- sometimes, when we really put ourselves in the shoes of others, the pain and fear can be literally paralyzing. Sometimes I feel that way when I think of my friends who've lost their parents or siblings; it's a crushing feeling. But I think it's good for us to feel that sometimes, to understand the depths of human despair -- otherwise how could be understand hope and love?

I love the close up of your face! Are you getting more beautiful?

    xx

  6. Katey (can I call you that? unless you'll tear me to shreds!), you are that truly good person who doesn't always flit from one thought to another like I do. Whenever I'm reminded of tragedies that seem so far away, I feel guilty, like my problems are all trivial. I remember seeing this one video of a dying Iranian girl caught in a protest. I cried, and I pray in hopes that I'm not being selfish.

    Thanks for sharing.

  7. It is indeed necessary to think of how grateful we are to be where we are, always. I had a similar moment yesterday at a concert actually. I mean.. what are the chances that YOU were brought to this earth? And of those chances, what are the chances that you will be healthy, not starving for food, not being abused, etc.?

  11. You really summed it up. As silly as it may be, I get so upset when I see those kinds of things from the news and it's almost a sadness generated from the fact that I don't know what to do to help them. They are definitely in millions of prayers.

On a lighter note, I love your top. You seriously have the most gorgeous clothing! (and hair, mine looked like that when it was longer...and now I want to grow it out!)

  14. Beautiful top and awesome shoes! I agree, sometimes I feel so helpless sitting at home and watching disaster strike halfway across the world. Donating money and time sometimes doesn't feel like enough to make up for all the horrible things that have happened, you know? At times like these I'm so grateful for my home and family and friends.

  16. Oh Darling I completely understand…Sometimes as human we think “oh this will never happen to me” but if you stop for a second and really think about what would happen if it did, it would just be terrible loved ones getting hurt oh nooooo!!!…..last week in California U.S.A were I live we have a small earthquake of 4.4 I was sleeping and I had my family near me so I didn’t worry much but it’s so scary all you think of is running and the thought of a after-shock occurring any time makes you cry…..so I do understand I hope those people sustain a strong heart and lets send them lots and lots of love !!!! Are you with me ? hahahahahah!!!!! Well darling take care and talk to you soon…♥

  18. This is such a useful post. American's especially always focus on the negative aspects of their life when in reality we all have so much to be grateful for.

  19. gorgeous pics

and it really is difficult seeing suffering and knowing how little you can do, i guess that's why there's so much apathy in the world. but everything positive, no matter how big or small, we do does makes a difference...spread the kindness :)

  23. This is such an inspirational post......I think everyone needs to take a moment each day to appreciate where they are and consider how much worse things could be! I know that I personally don't do that enough.

Also, you are seriously the most adorable thing I have ever seen! I love your photos and I am in love with the shoes you're wearing :)

  30. I agree. I think if everyone just pitches in a little time or money or just some love, like writing a letter to a school, can be really inspirational and up lifting to those who are struck by tragedy.

On a happier note, you're so pretty! I bet you fit in will all the gorgeous Aussies just fine. Wonderful boots! (:
